This holiday season give the gift of a healthy planet. The Nature Conservancy is celebrating their third year of going green during the holidays and Active Junky is once again onboard. Starting Cyber Monday, November 26, The Nature Conservancy has teamed up with a bevy of retailers and websites. Their goal is to promote green, responsible and environmentally conscious gift giving ideas and we are all for it. Getting in the spirit we’ve arranged some eco-conscious gift choices for you.
Plus, we’ve made it simple and easy to donate the cash you earn purchasing products through back to The Nature Conservancy. We’ve also set up a link so you can make a donation to one of our favorite snow- saving partners, Protect Our Winers.
So, what eco-friendly gift is right for your favorite gearhead this year? We have a few suggestions…

Mountainsmith Centennial 30 Backpack

A technical 38L ruck, the Centennial 30 is made using 16 recycled 16-ounce plastic bottles. Built tough and loaded with comfort and safety features, it’s a perfect go-to pack.

Dumonde Tech Bio Green Bicycle Chain Lube

Green lube maybe the perfect stocking stuffer for the biker on your list. 100% biodegradable and it even comes in a recyclable bottle. Mother Earth will smile every time they saddle up.

Zeal Polarized Backyard Sunglasses

Give the gift of happy eyes. Thanks to the Backyard's Hyperion lenses with polarized tech, these lenses filter out 100% UVA, UVB, and UVC, 95% of HEV light and reduce glare by 99%. And thanks to the eco-friendly Z-resin frame (a bio-based plastic from Switzerland) they look cool while lessening the impact on the environment.

Soul Poles

Handcrafted in Park City, Utah, Soul Poles‘ line of ski poles are strong and sustainable. They are made with light bamboo and come in an variety of color options ranging from natural finishes to brilliant sunbursts. Soul Poles partnered up with Recycle Utah to educate and spread awareness for the recycling of old poles and ski products.

Men’s Millet Spindrift Primaloft Insulated Jacket

Uber light and Earth-hugging Primaloft Eco insulation uses post-consumer recycled material to create a high loft, quick drying and compressible insulation. About 28 recycled bottles are used in the making of each kilogram of this stuff. Plus, unlike down, it will keep your favorite adventurer warm even while damp.

Timberland Earthkeepers

Timberland’s Earthkeepers line is hitting on all cylinders in the eco-world. Using 42% recycled rubber outsoles minimizes landfill waste while not compromising traction or durability. Linings and laces are made with recycled PET. Renewable SmartWool lining helps wick moisture while leather is sourced from tanneries that have received a Silver or Gold rating with regard to sustainability. And, on top of being technically sound, they seem to be getting more stylish each season.

Give the gift of awesome snow! Support Protect Our Winters by making a donation in someone’s name! Active Junky is a contributing partner to POW and we love what they do. Their mission is to engage and mobilize the winter sports community to lead the fight against climate change.
